Water Features
Flowing water adds delightful sounds and a restful ambience to any garden. Modern water feature technology has made these features very affordable and a must for today′s landscape designs. These features are not merely decorative. Research has shown they can be very healing, helping to maintain wellness and enhance lives.
When evaluating the right type of water feature for home, be sure to evaluate the following:
- Location: Choose a location viewable from as many vantage points as possible−from the patio, a firepit, or a room from inside the house. You won′t want to locate your water feature in the back of the yard just to take up dead space. The more you see it, the more you will want to enjoy time along side it.
- Sound: Water can be either soft and soothing or loud and energetic. Flowing water can vibrate off walls and the surrounding environment, thereby amplifying the sound level.
- Space: How much do you have? Features don′t have to big and bulky. A little can go a long way.
- Grading: Heavy slopes or flat ground can be used. Dramatic effects can be achieved no matter what your situation!
- Fish and Plants: No matter what type of focal point you would like, bring your feature to life with plants and fish!
- Electric / Water: You will need to power a pump and provide a water supply if you intend to add an auto-fill for your feature. Expect some cost for an electrician to provide the supply from the house to the desired location.
- Cost: The vast array of materials and the labor involved to create a custom water feature can vary greatly from project to project. Your designer will help you identify the types of water features that will fit within your budget
